MnM's

Couldn't resist? Could you?

14 September 2008

Packing...

Well, I've been ready quite a while, my friend PO on the other hand.

13 September 2008

Taking a bath

Not very warm, actually. About 12 C. Why? You might wonder. Because my friend did...
Yes, I am that childish!

Morning has broken

And the weather turned out just as good as the forecast. For once.

12 September 2008

Campfire

One of the highlights of camping out. Another malt now...

Nice view

as well. We're gonna top this with a fine malt now.

Dinner is on it's way

But it may take a while...

27 May 2008

Sunset on Skagerak

A great sunset on a dead calm sea.

11 May 2008

Storebelt

This really is a big bridge. To illustrate, we sailed under it with a ship 15 stories high

Kiel

A quick cruise to Kiel. This was the kind of maritim motive I was looking for.

01 May 2008

Multiple choise

And with this view of the duty free shop at the airport we end this travel document. Good bye Scotland, we'll be back.

The Street

... or the gay spot, as Tom told me after the first night. Me, I didn't notice until a nice scottish bloke tried to pick me up. Good thing about the gay scene though, they serve very good drinks. Cheers mate

30 April 2008

Stone walls

seem to cause trouble for cell phones here. Signal quality varies a lot, within very short distances.

Me

After viewer storms, we proudly present: ME. At the Oz. From Aussie as in Australian. Tom felt like coming home

The Castle

You can see it frm about anywhere in Edinburgh, and this is quite a good view of it.

English breakfast

This is one of the things I love most about Britain. The absolutely over the top breakfast. Probably because a trip here involves drinking, and there's nothing like this after some heavy drinking the night before

29 April 2008

Rose street

After a tip from our excellent Rabbie's guide, we went to Rose street. Lots of pubs and restaurants and small shops. Just north of Princess street it's not hard to find either

Malt vinegar

The Scots are, even more than other Brits, suckers for deep fried food. And accompanied by: Malt vinegar. After trying it out I have to agree. It certainly adds to a dish of fried food, like the all present Fish'n chips.

A rainy hike

What probably was supposed to be a nice hike through some beautiful scenery, turned into a VERY WET walk. It was raining cats and dogs, and then some. To add to the misery; it started raining as we left the bus, and stopped as soon as we came back

The Famous Grouse experience

This actually takes place at the Glenturret Distillery in Crieff outside Edinburgh. A rather small still, wich gave us a good insight in the prosess of making malt whisky. The tasting after the tour was of course the highlight.
Cheers mate

Rabbie's trail burners

On a guided trip in the scottish countryside today. With an excellent guide, it was quite an entertaining and educational experience.

28 April 2008

Guildford Arms

This was really what I would come to expect from a place that calls itself a pub. And a great assortment of beer as well. Only downside is the closing time, wich is just as traditional as the rest, 11 o'clock. Good night.

The Scottish Parliament Building

This building is, acording to my guidebook, a scandal. Costing 10 times that of the original budget of 40 000£. That is abot the same as our own new opera house, wich leads me to believe the budget was a result of typical brittish understatement.

Haggis

Yes. It's time to find out what this is all about. The subject of so many jokes. Actually...
it's very good, I liked it a lot. Thank you

A tasting experiense

Here we are, with 4 different single malts. Ahh, life is good

The Castle

No trip to Edinburgh without visiting the Castle rock

Early lunch

We decided on the brittish consept of; no alcohol before lunch. The answer, of course, is early lunch

At the pub

After the "scary" experience, we needed a beer.

27 April 2008

City of the dead

Our excellent guide on our tour experiencing the dark chapters of Scottish history.

Haunted trip

A piper

We're in Scotland, for crying out loud

The tourist

Need I say more

Railway station

There is just something about them

The Whisky Bar

We are in heaven

Our hotel

Looks really old, but is modern on the inside.
We first got a room with just one double bed. For obvious reasons we didn't want that.

We are off

Next stop, Edinburgh

20 April 2008

Freight train

I saw this train on a trip yesterday. Just had to catch the colors and the lines.

11 April 2008

Life is good

This is what it's all about. A moment...
To spesify, coffee, cigar, whiskey and a forest lake. The children making lots of noise in the background wasn't that annoying, actually

10 April 2008

Change of consept

I'm going to make some changes here. I'm not writing very much as it is, but hope to change that, as I have told myself many times before.

Pictures

I'm gonna use this place to post pictures from my cell phone and from my new digital camera, a Pentax K10D.

My life

Then some from my life as a

  • gamer
  • lecturer on children and modern media
  • student, I'm taking a year off from school to study
  • photographer for real estate

and just some of my really biased opinions

on life, computers, gaming and photography
